Number Sense to 50
This strand is all about knowing what numbers mean and how big they are.
- Count forward and backward to 50, and count on from any number.
- Read and write numbers, and match a number to a group of objects.
- Compare amounts using *more*, *less*, and *equal*.
- Use ordinal numbers — first, second, third — to describe position.
A number like 7 can be shown many ways: seven fingers, seven dots, the word "seven", or the symbol 7. Seeing these connections builds strong number sense.
