Money and Finances
This strand introduces Canadian money and what it is used for.
- Recognise coins — the nickel (5¢), dime (10¢), quarter (25¢), and the loonie ($1) and toonie ($2).
- Know each coin's value, and that a smaller coin can be worth more (a dime is smaller than a nickel but worth more).
- Count a small group of coins to find a total up to 50 cents.
Money is what we trade to buy things we need and want. Learning coin values is the first step to becoming a smart spender and saver.
