Thinking Like a Mathematician
Grade 3 problems often take more than one step, so planning and checking become key habits. When you get stuck, name what you *do* know and what you are trying to find.
The mathematical processes work together:
- Problem solving — choose a strategy and try it.
- Reasoning and proving — explain why your answer must be right.
- Representing — use pictures, numbers, and words.
- Reflecting — ask, "Does this make sense? Could I do it a better way?"
