Thinking Flexibly
Grade 7 introduces more abstract ideas, so it helps to connect new concepts to what you already know and to stay open to more than one method.
The mathematical processes:
- Problem solving — plan, attempt, and refine.
- Reasoning and proving — justify with logic and examples.
- Representing and connecting — link words, symbols, tables, and graphs.
- Communicating and reflecting — explain clearly and evaluate your approach.
Recognising when to persevere and when to try a new strategy is a mark of a maturing mathematician.
