Properties of Liquids and Solids
Liquids and solids behave in different ways.
- A liquid flows and takes the shape of its container; you can pour it.
- A solid keeps its own shape and does not flow.
- Materials can change state — water can freeze into ice or be heated to steam.
Testing whether something pours or holds its shape is a simple way to tell a liquid from a solid.
