Forces Causing Movement
A force is a push or a pull that can start, stop, or change movement.
- Contact forces act by touching (a hand pushing a box, or friction slowing it down).
- Non-contact forces act at a distance — gravity pulls objects down, and magnetism attracts certain metals.
- Friction is a force that slows sliding objects.
Gravity acts on everything all the time, which is why a dropped object always falls toward the ground.
