Flight
Flight depends on four forces acting on an aircraft.
- Lift pushes up and weight (gravity) pulls down; thrust pushes forward and drag pushes back.
- A wing's shape makes air move faster over the top, creating lift.
- An aircraft flies when lift overcomes weight and thrust overcomes drag.
The curved shape of a wing is the key to lift — it turns fast-moving air into an upward force.
