Heat in the Environment
Heat is the energy transferred between things at different temperatures.
- Heat moves by conduction (through touching solids), convection (through moving liquids and gases), and radiation (through space, like sunlight).
- Particle theory explains heat as faster-moving particles.
- Most materials expand when heated and contract when cooled.
Heat always flows from warmer to cooler until their temperatures are equal.
