Systems in Action
A system takes an input and produces an output to do work.
- Mechanical advantage measures how much a machine multiplies force.
- Efficiency compares useful output to total input — no system is perfectly efficient.
- Systems combine simple machines and components to accomplish tasks.
Some input energy is always lost (usually as heat), so a machine's useful output is always less than the energy put in.
