Earth's water systems move and store water across the planet.
- A watershed is the land that drains into a common body of water.
- Oceans, lakes, rivers, and groundwater are connected through the water cycle.
- Most of Earth's water is salt water; only a small fraction is accessible fresh water.
Because usable fresh water is such a small share of Earth's total, water systems must be managed carefully.
